Antibiotic overuse and poor quality of antibiotics used in livestock production can both contribute to development of antimicrobial resistance in pathogenic organisms. The Trinity challenge helped two research groups connect to fight this health threat.   Farm2Vet is developing a virtual platform, including a mobile app to help underserved pig farmers to reduce their use of antibiotics, and PADs could help farmers to identify antibiotics that might be poor quality products. Farm2Vet and PADs are teaming up to field test Farm2Vet's app and test the quality of veterinary medicines at sites in Vietnam and sub-Saharan Africa. We hope that combining these approaches will give farmers more effective ways to keep their animals healthy.
