Alyssa Wicks defended her PhD dissertation on March 31 and is now ready for her next adventure!  

Alyssa worked as part of a large, interdisciplinary team to validate lead screening kits against the "gold standard" of home lead risk assessment with portable XRF. Her paper describing the kit validation was published in Spring 2024 and has been viewed >700 times.  Her piece on PFAS desorption from watchbands from her work with Graham Peaslee has been viewed >6000 times, and is the subject of over 130 news articles.  She gave 14 oral and poster presentations of her work at regional, national, and international conferences, including presenting her PFAS work to a live audience of 800 researchers at a PFAS conference in Dublin, Ireland in 2023, using the creative format of a 10 minute “cooking show.”
